For Meatballs:

  • ok4 slices (100 g) Toast
  • ok1/2 cup (125 ml) Milk 
  • ok300 g Minced Beef 
  • ok1 tbsp. of olive oil
  • ok1 tbs (6 g) dried Oregano
  • ok1 tbs (5 g) fresh Parsley, chopped
  • ok1medium Egg, beaten
  • ok1 small finely chopped onion

For Sauce:

  • ok1 tbs (10 g) Olive Oil
  • ok1 medium (100 g) Onion, finely chopped
  • ok2 cloves of garlic
  • ok6 large tomatoes
  • okOptional chopped basil leaves
  • ok400 g Spaghetti
  • ok2ltrs (8 cups) Boiling Water

Let's Cook

To prepare Meatballs:

  1. 1place toast slices in a mixing bowl, add milk and allow bread to absorb milk and get soft, then add minced beef, olive oil, oregano, Parsley, Egg and chopped onion to the mix until well combined.
  2. 2Shape mixture into small meatballs and allow to rest in fridge for 10 minutes. 
  3. 3Bake in a preheated oven at 175 degrees C for 20 minutes or until fully cooked and slightly golden on top.
  4. 4Peel and finely chop onion and garlic, and roughly chop tomatoes. 
  5. 5In a medium pot add onions and garlic to olive oil, sauté until soft then add the tomatoes, season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. 6Add chopped basil leaves if you wish. 
  7. 7Reduce the heat, cover and let it simmer for about 15 minutes.
  8. 8 Return cooked Meatballs to the sauce and cook for an additional 5 minutes. 
  9. 9Meanwhile cook spaghetti in boiling water as per package direction. Drain and set aside.
  10. 10Serve cooked spaghetti with meatball sauce on top and additional basil leaves as optional garnish.
